Hey all,
I think it’s fun to learn about the people you play against (both on and off the field). It’s especially great for captains because they can foster relationships with other team leadership which I think can open a lot of doors for both teams. I know personally that my relationships with other teams has lead to a few great pickup teams and even helped the formation of Midwest RevoLOUtion.
The Bettys have three young captains this year, and I want to introduce them to you because they are great people and they are the ones our team looks up to.

how you came to join the bettys: I first heard about the Bettys when I was in high school from my cousin who was currently on the Kansas Men’s Team- Horrorzontals. My freshman year, one of the Betty captains at that time even lived on the same dorm floor as me…BUT it wasn’t till my cousin convinced me to play with him in the Lawrence Summer League that I decided to give ultimate a chance. I met a lot of great ultimate people that summer and finally got the courage to go to a Betty practice my junior year, and haven’t regretted a moment since!!!
favorite tourney and why OR favorite betty costume of the past: Looking back, I’d have narrow down my favorite tourneys to either Harvest Moon or Centex. Harvest is high spirited tournament that seems to bring our team and others together and has fostered many crazy memories to look back on.
I remember going to my first Centex last year, and being completely blown away by how many talented women’s teams there were. It wasn’t till after or I guess during this tournament that I realized how much potential this new sport had to offer….I guess you could say I came back inspired.
favorite food: This is a difficult question. I loooooove foooood. I do enjoy my carbs a lot–rice, oats, potatoes, pasta…all good stuff. I think pizza is definitely on my top 5 foods though, along with ramen of course.
your goal for the team this season: I think we have a fairly young and new team this year, so improving and growing as a team along with establishing ourselves as a competitive team is one of my main goals for the Bettys this season. Also, having as much fun as possible is vital!!
