As Hammertime gets ready for the spring semester and upcoming tournaments, it’s now that the real test begins. The decisions we make will ultimately (no pun intended) determine the course of our spring semester and upcoming tournaments.
It’s now that we decide to go to every Sunday skills session to get in those extra practices we missed out in the fall because of rain, choose not to go out so we can get the homework done and that extra hour of sleep to be ready to go the next morning for a tournament, choose to go to the gym and get a workout in or go out and work on throws instead of sitting around doing nothing.
But why should we do it?
It’s because of our shot at making a name for ourselves at Regionals. It’s so we can prove we’re a force to be reckoned with at tournaments like Hellfish Bonanza at JMU, Women’s Easterns at UNC-Wilmington, and Women’s Sectionals. It’s motivation knowing our team is developing and seeing our veterans always working, rookies always learning, handlers always throwing, cutters always cutting. Constantly working to get better on offense and defense and as a unit.
If reading about our preview from skyd magazine doesn’t help with the motivation, I don’t know what will. Captain Mallory “Mono” Meiser really represents Hammertime and our potential for the spring, now we just need to prove it.
For further motivation…shout out to Daniel “White Hat” Selwyn for shooting and editing this awesome video (Thanks White Hat!!)
