And the arms. And the legs. And the core.
December and January are my least favorite months as far as melee is concerned. It’s cold (to me at least), my teammates are almost all out of town, I’m generally working more since I don’t class or practice, and worst of all I face the daunting task of finishing the assigned winter workouts. Somewhere in there I am also forced to eat mass quantities of delicious food that does not bode well for training. For some reason this year seemed easier than the past. I was giving myself credit for being infinitely more motivated than before (after all this is the year right?) but this week I realized it might not be the case. It’s finally cold. The fact that the majority of December had highs in the 70s made it much easier to get outside and run. Clearly the weather gods have agreed that this is the year with overall fantastic weather. We are all well on our way to being in spring ultimate shape.
I’ve talked to a few of the my friends at Michigan ( http://umichflywheel.blogspot.com/ ) and they are supposedly doing crossfit training which I have heard is pretty intense. I think its a great idea and part of me wishes we were doing that too. But I’m not worried. Katie “No BS” Blyth is a fitness nazi. (Like how I changed “BS” to “No BS” ? I thought that was clever.) Now that she has coaching powers it has become relentless. I keep telling myself that it’s all out of love when I’m gasping for breath, my legs are on fire, my arms feel like jello, and I wake up the next day unable to move. It’s all out of love. Melee love.
