Without Limits is proud to present our second Blog of The Week. Each week, we will be featuring one of the blogs in our College Women’s Ultimate Blogroll. This week’s featured Blog is University of Illinois Menace, authored by Menace alum Joann “JWo” Wong. Illinois Menace plays in the Great Lakes region, which features University of Michigan Flywheel, Northwestern University Gungho, Michigan State Infamous, Notre Dame Womb, and many others. Joann played four years of college ultimate with Menace and helped bring them to the College Championships in 2009. Outside of college, Joann has played women’s club ultimate with Chicago’s Spicy Tuna as well as coed ultimate for Shanghai’s HuWa. Along with her extensive blog, Joann has also co-authored an article for The Huddle.
In her blog, Joann covers a myriad of ultimate related topics. From local tournament previews to College and Club Nationals write-ups to motivational video clips and team photographs, this blog is a comprehensive look at one player’s experience. Joann’s writing on team bonding and strenuous training is particularly captivating for its ability to reverberate with anyone who has ever been on a college sports team.
Check out Joann’s latest blog post for a preview of what the 2011 season could have in store for women’s college ultimate.
In many ways, Joann’s blog is what inspired this Blogroll and Without Limits. JWo’s early references to the LoB (you’re a fangirl if you know what this means) led to the creation of Without Limits some years later, and JWo’s passion, hard work, and determination have inspired me in so many different ways. If you’re a fan of college women’s ultimate, then JWo’s blog is a must read.
