Some shout-outs:
– 20 people are coaching / facilitating at the Chapel Hill Skills Clinics this weekend. LL, Linds, Leila, Cate, Michaela, Savannah, HA, Sasha, Jen, Heather, Janna, Leslie, Britta, Sara Casey, Kelly, Raj, Jessi, Claire, Patti, and Tania. Thank you for everything. Special thanks to LL and Linds for their vision for making this happen, and to HA for pushing those youth sign-ups hard. So blessed by this group of people and so excited to see them in ONE week!
– Brute Squad friends. Dory told me today that she is still coming to Keystone Classic to coach at the skills clinic even though her team dropped out. Beth has been faithfully helping me with skills clinic registration. Julia is moving here in 2 weeks! And Amber is awesome for generally keeping me sane and listening to me talk about ultimate… all of the time.
– Maddy always keeps it real, which is much needed and appreciated.
– Abby helped me proofread tons of iterations of captains’ packets over the weekend. She is so focused and thorough, and always makes time to lend a helping hand, even though she has no free time.
– I went out to dinner with Shannon, one of Kali’s captains, yesterday. I have known her since she was a rookie and it has been such a privilege to watch her grow and develop as a player and leader over the past few years. Her older sister, Heather, is one of my oldest college ultimate friends and I have known her since she was a rookie as well. YIKES. College ultimate could use more people like Shannon. If you know her, you know what I mean.
Other news:
– Without Limits gear has gone to print and will be coming to tournaments near you starting this month. I just purchased > 100 jerseys for skills clinic coaches, and many exciting items will be on sale at our events. Please support us by buying and repping our gear!
– Thanks to the extremely cold (feels like -19°F) weather we’ve been experiencing, I have lost feeling in a number of my fingertips. My car doors froze shut after work yesterday and I spent an hour trying to get in and get my windows scraped off sufficiently to drive the 6 blocks to Shannon’s. I didn’t have gloves. Rookie move, apparently.
