Barney and Sesame Street

As I have already internally committed to including mostly non-ultimate related posts every once in a while through this blog, this is the first. A few years ago I came across this idea. Personally as a child I watched Barney. Every morning I would wake up, make my own cereal and turn on Barney while waiting for my mom to get up. (the legitimacy of that ritual is unknown, I was just told it so assume it was daily. gettin those gold stars from the rents, ya dig?) If Barney wasn’t on T.V., no problem! My mother made a smart investment in a few Barney VHS tapes for those times of need.

Although I was a huge Barney fan (and of course devoted to Mr. Rogers and his beautiful neighborhood) I honestly do not recall ever watching Sesame Street.

So that leads to my idea (or revelation as I will flatter myself in calling it) nice people watched Barney and really smart people watched Sesame Street. Yeah so this might not be the most accurate judge of a person and who they are today based on what they watched as a child (if they were lucky enough to have cable), BUT I don’t think it’s that far off of the map as far as accuracy goes. I am not dumb by any means, but I am definitely more of a Barney than a Sesame Street. And can you imagine someone who was an avid fan of both?! Not only do they know how to share, save water and care about others but they also know how to do the stuff that, you know, you learn by watching Sesame Street…

I am not saying I am the nicest person in the world, or saying that mean people watched Sesame Street/not smart people watched Barney I do however think there is a vibe you can get from a person that says “I watched a lot of Sesame Street growing up” or the same for Barney.

If nothing else hopefully you have a potentially interesting conversational piece next time you are hanging out with your friends, guess which show they watched more of before they answer that question, HOW BOUT IT?! And even if, for some impossible reason against nature, this turns out to be completely wrong upon you testing it out I am sure it will bring up many childhood stories you have probably been dying to know about each of your friends, right?
