Blog of the Week #4: Maddog in the Fog

Without Limits is proud to present our fourth blog of the week: Maddog in the Fog, written by Anna “Maddog” Nazarov. I have known Maddy since we both started playing ultimate in 2004. Over the years, I have had the privilege of competing against her at both the college and club levels, as well as collaborating with her on projects such as the Roundup Division at Midwest Throwdown. Maddy is one of the best people I know- the rare combination of honest, kind, and loyal. She’s a fantastic player, but also a fantastic person, and I think you will see that reflected in her blog. Check out Danielle Hirsch’s writeup of Maddy’s blog, and stay tuned to the Blogroll for lots of good stuff as we head into the thick of the college season.

Anna “Maddog” Nazarov is all over Ultimate like white on rice. Playing for UCLA’s Bruins Ladies Ultimate, Anna was the Southwest Region FOTY in 2004 and received All-Region honors in 2006 and 2007, as well as winning a little something called the Callahan award the same year. Anna also captained BLU for multiple years, helping to build the team’s remarkable national resume. BLU has consistently qualified for Nationals out of the (former) Southwest Region jam packed with talent: UCSB Burning Skirts, USC Hellions of Troy, Colorado Kali, UCSD Psychos, and more. BLU has also made it to Quarterfinals (or beyond) at the College Championships yearly from 2006 to 2010, including a finals appearance in 2006, and semifinals appearances in 2007 and 2008. (YOWZA). Now, in 2011, Anna plays Women’s Club Ultimate with Bay Area Zeitgeist. Off the field (but on the sideline), Anna is an ultimate photographer, and has also been a contributor to The Huddle.

Anna’s voice is an exciting addition to the Without Limits Blogroll. Check out Anna’s post The California Conundrum for an insider’s perspective on the newly reformed Southwest Region, and what it could mean for the Big 5 in California’s Women’s Ultimate.
