Virginia is for Layouts is a playing and development opportunity geared toward D-III teams and on-the-cusp teams. Teams have the opportunity to be guest coached by an elite club player, participate skills clinics, as well as attend team and program development sessions. Our goal is to help underserved teams build their programs both and on off the field.
If you have had the opportunity to play elite ultimate or be coached by someone who has changed the way you think about the game, we hope you will consider giving back.

Here is what some past participants at Layouts had to say:
“Virginia is for Layouts was absolutely the best run and most beneficial tournament I/my team has ever attended. From the facilities to the guest coaches to the clinics and tournament organization, we were so impressed and are looking forward to attending so much in the future!”
“I really can’t say enough about how wonderful and beneficial it was for our team to meet and be coached by Rana this weekend. We really benefited from hearing a fresh perspective and to hear from a talented, experienced women’s ultimate player. Her drills and advice really resonated with our team and I think its safe to say that we improved more this past weekend then we have in any other single tournament. Every aspect of this tournament, from guest coaches to built in field time and classroom sessions to the evening clinics were great experiences and I would recommend this tournament to any/every women’s ultimate team!”
“This has been the most positive ultimate experience I have ever had. Being a very young and very small team, it’s hard to find tournaments that suit our needs while helping us to improve. I have seen such great strides of improvement from my women individually and as one team. We have grown closer because of this weekend through our sweat and blood and bruises and fight. Before this weekend, I had found myself lost in the paperwork and drama that comes with being a lead; this tournament brought me back to the love of playing ultimate and made me remember why I started the women’s team in the first place.”
“As a senior on the team, I have seen the team grow and change over the years, but some things have stayed the same. We are still a hardworking group of dedicated, devoted women who love ultimate and everything that Without Limits stands for. Layouts is one of my favorite tournaments every year, and I was just last week telling a freshman about how excited I was to go back to VA this year. I love it not just because the fields and the weather are great, but because it’s an incredible opportunity to play against other teams that we can learn from and have a good time with, be taught by an amazing guest coach, and attend skills clinics which are da bomb. I have not completed a Without Limits skills clinic without learning something that has significantly changed the way I play for the better, and especially now that I (as an upperclassman) am in the role of teacher more than learner, I am so excited to learn new things from the amazing women that always lead the clinics and act as guest coaches. For our younger players, I know they will benefit greatly from all that there is to learn at Layouts, both on the field and off, and I am so excited to watch them fall in love with women’s ultimate culture. (I myself didn’t really have a grasp on what women’s ultimate culture meant until I attended a Without Limits tournament.) Thank you for everything you’ve given us so far.”
“I love the format of Without Limits tournaments. I feel that I come away from the weekends with not only a boost in experience but also new perspectives on the game. As a freshman last year, I learned so much from the playing with and against other teams, working with experienced players, and watching the showcase game. The input and coaching of club players has been invaluable for our team. We bring new drills, new techniques, and boosted energy back to our practices from Without Limits tournaments. Last year, our team also gained a great deal from working with the club player paired with us, Chelsea. She helped us to amp up our defensive strategy and intensity. I also appreciate the ability to choose clinics for all levels of players, and I love how the clinics allow for mingling between teams. Without Limits tournaments have played a huge role in developing my break throws and hucks. As a cutter, trying out these throwing clinics challenged me to work on more difficult aspects of my game. Virginia is for Layouts has so much to offer, and as a team, one of our greatest strengths is our desire to learn. I hope that we have the opportunity to expand and improve our game again this year at Virginia is for Layouts!”
“VA for Layouts has been a favorite tournament of DUFF for a while now. Attending it last year for the very first time was an incredible experience. Not only did we get to play in a regular tourney style, but having the addition of a coach– for a team like ours– was such a positive experience. Because there are not many of us, it was great to have a set of eyes that were focused on the team as a whole. Getting the opportunity to ask our coach, Christian Foster, to watch for specific things in my game or if he had any advice in general was extraordinarily helpful. The games on a whole were better because teams were focusing on playing good frisbee, and not just winning. Being that it was my first year playing ultimate, having the clinics were a great opportunity to learn skills that we didn’t always get to work on in practice. My forehand was exponentially better by the end of the weekend. Because all of us on the team were able to attend different clinics, we were able to bring all new drills to back home with us to practice and continue improving our game.”
“I have attended Layouts with the Tufts Bwo for the last two years, and my experiences there have truly shaped me as a player. Being coached by some of the best players in ultimate has helped me and my teammates improve greatly as players. From learning the basics such as how to properly mark and cut to more advanced skills such as laying out and specific plays, there are several skills I can point to as being immensely improved by layouts. The coaches I have had have been really helpful, targeting our team’s specific needs. The two Layouts I’ve attended have been my favorite tournaments of my ultimate career.”
