wanting the disc in your hands when the game is on the line means accepting that you could throw the game-winning score just as easily as you could throw a turnover. if you can’t stomach the latter, you can’t possibly step up for the former.
wanting to be happy feels similar to me — if you aren’t willing to make yourself vulnerable to being hurt, then you can’t possibly know the full, secure, and complete joy of being happy.
i know it’s beside the point, but i just wish this weren’t so scary.
